Choosing Soft, Heavy Fruit
When you are buying your citrus fruit, be sure to pick one that feels a little bit soft, but not squishy. If it does feel heavier, chances are that it has more juice inside of it. Softer, heavy fruit will be a lot juicier than normal fruit. Pick up two fruit of the same size to gauge its weight and compare. Even if they are the same size, if one feels slightly heavier than the other, it may give you more juice.
Freezing Your Citrus
Storing your citrus fruit in the freezer will expand the cell walls of the fruit, making it easier to squeeze after it’s completely thawed out. Freezing will not only be a good way to keep your fruit fresh longer, but it will also give you a lot more juice than if you tried to squeeze it fresh.
Put It In The Microwave
Warming up citrus fruit before squeezing will make it softer, which means it will be easier to squeeze by hand. Throw it in the microwave for about 30 seconds for the best results.
Use a flat surface to roll your citrus fruit back and forth to loosen and break down the citrus membranes, letting more juice out. This is a good way to soften your fruit before squeezing.
